Data we collect

• Account details: your email address and display name; if you sign in with Google, the name and profile photo on your Google account. We never see your password; sign-in is handled by Google’s Firebase Authentication.
• What you enter: your transactions (amount, category, title, date, note and the sentence you typed), your categories, limits, currency and settings, the merchant–category matches the app learns, and your Beter AI analyses.
• App lock: only an irreversible hash of your PIN is stored.
• Technical records: the IP address and time of requests to our server, your account ID, error logs and anonymous usage measurements (e.g. how long an action took, the app’s language). These measurements never include what you typed or said.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising ID, or bank or card details.

How we use your data

• To provide the service: storing your entries, syncing them between your phone and browser, showing limit alerts and analyses.
• For AI: if the app can’t understand a sentence on its own, the sentence and your learned merchant matches are sent to Google’s Gemini API. For Beter AI analyses, spending totals aggregated by category are sent. We use Gemini’s paid plan, under which Google does not use the content to improve its products.
• For security and troubleshooting: preventing abuse (request limits) and finding and fixing errors.

We do not sell your data. There are currently no ads or ad tracking in the app; if that changes, we will update this policy first.

Legal basis

• Processing your account and entries is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b), KVKK Art. 5/2-c).
• Security, error logs and anonymous measurements are based on our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f), KVKK Art. 5/2-f).
• Notifications and the microphone work only with the permission you give in your device’s dialog; you can turn them off at any time.

Service providers and sharing

• Google Cloud and Firebase (Google LLC): hosting, database, sign-in and server logs.
• Google Gemini API: the AI processing described above.
• Voice input: your voice is converted to text by your device’s or browser’s speech recognition service (Google on Android); audio never reaches our servers.

We do not share your data with anyone else; if legally required, we disclose it only to the competent authorities.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored and processed on Google’s servers in the United States (Oregon). This is necessary to provide the service. Google applies safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses to these transfers.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your transactions, profile, categories, merchant matches and Beter AI analyses are deleted immediately and permanently, and the copies on that device are cleared. Server and error logs are kept for up to 30 days and then deleted automatically.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and KVKK Art. 11 you have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive a copy of it (portability) and to withdraw your consent. You can correct and delete your entries inside the app.

For anything else, write to support@beterbudget.app from the email address registered to your account; we reply within 30 days at the latest. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Board).

Security

Connections are encrypted with HTTPS. Database rules let each user access only their own data. Your app lock PIN is stored in an irreversible form.

Notifications

Reminders are calculated and scheduled on your phone; we do not use a notification server for them. You can turn notifications off in the app’s Settings or in your phone’s settings.

Cookies and data stored on your device

This website uses a single cookie that remembers the language you chose. The app stores your session, your settings and a copy of your data on your device so it opens faster. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Children

BeterBudget is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If your country sets a higher age, that age applies.

Changes

If we update this policy, the date above changes; we also announce important changes in the app.
